COMMON QUESTIONS

HOW MUCH IS THERAPY? HOW DO YOU ACCEPT PAYMENT?

Clients pay for each session at the time of service. You are welcome to pay by cash or check. If you prefer to pay by a debit or credit card, or with a Health Savings Account/Flexible Spending Account/Health Reimbursement Account card, there is an additional service charge.

The initial evaluation is $185. During this first session together, we will discuss informed consent, confidentiality, and fees, and we will take a comprehensive history of your life, collecting information that will help to develop an individualized treatment plan. Following the initial evaluation, sessions are $150 per 50 minute appointment. Teletherapy sessions are available following the initial evaluation.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

Because we value your privacy, we do not currently contract with private insurance companies and are considered an Out-of-Network Provider. You may be able to utilize benefits of your private insurance, such as your Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Health Savings Account (HSA), or Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) cards. Clients are often able to successfully pay for their sessions with these benefit cards. This means we are not required to assign a diagnosis and/or share your private health information (PHI) with your insurance company.

Many insurance companies are willing to pay for out-of-network services provided that a mental health diagnosis is assigned to the client. Should you choose to seek Out-of-Network reimbursement, we are willing to complete the necessary forms. Your insurance company may require access to your confidential medical records and a receipt of services, which we can provide upon request, in additional to obtaining appropriate authorizations.

There are numerous benefits to private pay counseling, including our ability to collaboratively decide frequency of sessions and the type of counseling you receive, and avoiding a mental health diagnosis on your permanent health record and medical history, which unfortunately may have implications on your ability to obtain certain types of insurance or employment.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Your commitment is foundational to successful therapy. Your appointment time has been reserved just for you. Once an appointment hour is scheduled, you will be responsible for the full session fee unless you provide at least 24 hours notice of cancellation.

WHAT IF I AM HAVING A CRISIS SITUATION?

We are available for counseling sessions at selected times throughout the week. If our schedule is full, we may not be able to provide additional availability. If you experience a crisis or emergency situation, you should obtain immediate assistance by calling the Crisis Hotline at 1-800-221-0446, calling 911, or by going to a local hospital emergency room.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

Our office is located in the Elsby East building in downtown New Albany. We are easily accessible from Floyds Knobs, Clarksville, Corydon, Louisville, and surrounding areas.

WHAT IS THE NO SURPRISES ACT?

The No Surprises Act states that you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
